Escom to nurture four Simbi Trophy stars
The match, which was played in sweltering heat at Kakoma Community ground, saw Dausi Stars clinching the trophy with a 2-1 victory over Kachere FC.
But it was the individual brilliance of Dausi Stars’ brothers Peterson and Alan Dausi alongside Kachere FC’s Billy Chilumpha and Enerst Chithumba that caught Manda’s attention on the day.
The four new faces will be an addition to the seven players United have identified from rural soccer competitions to replace the nine they fired recently due to financial problems as they prepare for the new season.
“This is the only way we can build a cost-effective team that can survive in these hard economic times. The four Simbi Trophy players will be monitored for almost a season before we recruit them into our squad.
“During this period, we will be letting them train with us for a week so as to be familiar with our standard of play before their recruitment,” said Manda after watching the finals alongside FAM technical development officer Patricio Kulemeka.
